I travelled from India to UK on March 2012 with Tier 2 ICT(long term). I have an option to switch from ICT to Tier 2 general. Could you kindly let me know whether I have to serve any cooling off before switching from ICT to Tier 2. Please also let me know whether I can change visa from UK.

In order to switch to Tier2 General from Tier2 ICT you must fall within the categories given Below:
1. Tier 2 (Intra company transfer: established staff), if you are applying to switch sponsor.
2. Tier 2 (Intra company transfer) under the Immigration Rules in place before 6 April 2010, if you are applying to change sponsor.
As you have clearly mentioned, you are currently a Tier2 (ICT Long term staff) and you will not be able to switch to Tier2 General within the UK.
You can apply from abroad provided you serve the cooling off period of 1 year abroad.
