The marian difference
Emphasis on character and conduct: All activities of marian are oriented towards “information, formation, transformation.”
Earn while you learn: This unique and innovative scheme enables students to earn money while studying. Opportunities are there for data entry work, web development, marketing jobs, etc. Students can also work as assistant hostel directors. This initiative provides the students the much needed real-world experience.
Academic and Industrial tie-ups: Tie-ups with reputed companies like Redhat , Microsoft, ipsr solutions, IBM, Sun Microsystems, etc. enables Marian to keep itself up to date with the latest developments in different fields.
Emphasis on English: English is the Marian lingua franca. Great emphasis is given to the use of English on campus. Special remedial classes are also provided for those students who are weak in English. Those who are proficient in English are exposed to regular film watching and analysis twice a week.
Zero strike campus: From the moment of its inception no classes have been disrupted due to strikes or demonstrations.
Politics-free campus: Student politics is not encouraged on campus. Marian College elections are held in a democratic but nonpolitical manner.
Research and Development: The R&D wing of the college encourages research by facilitating full access to all college facilities and also arranging grants.
Round-the-clock lab: The post graduate students are allowed to have full time access to our computer labs.
Unique course-mix: Marian offers unique courses like MMH, PGDBA and Certifications in addition to regular stream courses.
University of Detroit Mercy, USA: Our unique MBA program of the University of Detroit Mercy, USA has opened up new avenues for the participants for better cross-culture relationships and to master the Global aspect of Management.

Marian International Centre for Advanced Studies (micas) is a unique venture of marian college kuttikkanam. The centre is specially to cater the extra needs of the student community through its own research and development wing and through academic alliances. Headquartered in Marian Campus, it has launched its operations in different parts of the country too. The short term nationally and internationally accredited courses are promoted in the educational tourism package.
Software research and development.
MICAS, maintains an exclusive computer lab dedicated to research and development of industry-specific applications. While undertaking live projects for the industry, the centre serves as training ground for the students, guided by the faculty and experts from the industry. Presently major research is being conducted in the areas of LDAP- Network security-Malayalam Computing-Clustering-Super Computing
It also acts as an incubator where the passing out students can continue to work in different projects till they get placement in reputed firms.

Microsoft: (Microsoft Competency Centre)
The MSDN Academic Alliance (MSDNAA) for conducting Microsoft Certified Courses like MCP, MCAD, MCSD, MCDBA. Students can load the Microsoft licensed software on their personal computers for use in coursework and personal projects under micas.
IBM: (IBM University Program)
IBM “University Program” bridges the gap between Marian students and “ON Demand business” industry. Through this Marian gets latest IBM technology update and training from the IBM professionals to the faculty as well as to students. It avails international certifications in IBM WebSphere, IBM DB2 UDB.
Red Hat: (RedHat Training Partner)
The alliance with RedHat makes micas a RedHat Training partner to bring internationally accredited certification Courses like RHCE and RHCT to the campus. The centre runs open source language and database oriented certification courses in PHP, Python, PostgreSQL, MySQL etc., with the support from RedHat India.
