I have two questions:1.I have family visit visa for 5 years now and first I came to UK in Aug.2012 and returned in Feb 6th2013. Again I am in UK on 17th September 2013 for another 6 months till march 15 2014. Is it OK?What do you mean by 6 months in any one year, is it calendar year or year starts from the 1st day of last visit.? 2.My family visit visa does not stipulate any condition except 180 days and multiple entry.I could not find any rules, or law which stipulate 6 months in any year with clarity. Will you please clarify these points. Thanks and sorry for my doubts.

Thanks for your query,
It means 180 days in any 1 year period. The period will start obviously from the first date of entry.
If on your first entry you remained in the UK for 6 Months then you should not be visiting for another 6 months period.

If you stayed in the UK for 3 months since your first entry and left, you are allowed to visit for another 3 months within the 1st anniversary of your first visit. You cant come again after 3 months and then stay for 6 Months. This would make your stay in the UK 90 days in 1 year.

As you have a long term visa you will not have a problem in getting entry on arrival. However this will be noted on your file and when you again try to come you might have problems or even you might get a warning while you enter. These days Home Office is very strict about breach of conditions of stay. Breach of leave conditions can cause your leave to be curtailed and/or can be used as an evidence by entry clearance officers to refuse any future visa applications.
