St. Antony’s Public School and Junior College is situated at Anakkal, two kilometers to the east of Kanjirappally, on the Kanjirappally Erattupetta road. It is owned and managed by St. Antony’s Catholic Church Anakkal, the vicar of the church being the manager. The Bishop of Kanjirapally is the patron of the school.

It is a co-educational institution affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and follows the text books and guidelines of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). The medium of instruction is English.

The academic year begins in May and ends in March. Regular classes for classes IX, X and XII begin usually in the first week of May; the remaining classes start two weeks later. The pre-primary section opens in June.

Admission

Admission is open to all pupils irrespective of caste or creed.

Courses of Study

1. Pre-Primary Section

This section consists of the two wings, the LKG and the UKG of the Kinder Garten and the Montessori House of Children (Monte I and Monte II).

2. Primary Section

Classes from I to VIII constitute the primary section.

The subjects taught in the primary level are English, Malayalam, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Work Experience, Art Education, Physical and Health Education, Computer Science.

3. Secondary Section

Classes IX and X are considered the secondary section. Students need study only two languages English and Malayalam or Hindi at the Secondary level.

The subjects taught at the Seconday Level are English, Malayalam/Hindi, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Work Experience, Art Education, Physical and Health Education.

4. Senior Secondary Section

The Senior Secondary Section consists of classes XI and XII. This course leads to the All India Senior School Certificate Examination. The subjects for study for the Science group are English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science (C++)/ Biology, General Studies, Work Experience, Physical and Health Education. The subjects for the  Commerce groups are English, Accountancy, Business studies, Information practices and Maths. 

SPECIALITIES

Entrance Examination Coaching

We arrange coaching classes for classes XI and XII with a view to training the students for the Entrance tests for medical and engineering courses. These classes are handled by a team of eminent professors from outside. How beneficial this coaching proved to the students can be seen from the fact that of the 125 candidates who wrote the entrance test in 2002  as many as  76 got admission to Engineering courses and 20 to Medical/Agricultural and such other courses.  At present the Brilliant Study Center, Palai  in charge of the entrance coaching.

Computer Science

Computer Science is compulsory for all students. Computer classes are conducted for classes from III to X in lieu of work experience. In the Senior Secondary classes students can offer Computer Science as one of the electives.

Library

School has a well equipped library of about 10,000 books. The reference section consists of all major encyclopedias, Handbooks and other reference materials. Our Children literature section is particularly rich.

Co-Curricular Activities

For the all-round development of personality a variety of co-curricular activities are arranged for the students. Training is imparted in vocal music, instrumental music, dance, school band, yoga and karate. Students are provided with additional facilities for sports and games after 3.30 pm daily.

Cultural and literary activities are organized on a regular basis. Science Club, Athletic Club, Oratory Club and Debating Club are efficiently functioning in the school. Science Fair, Quiz day, Group discussions etc, are some of the activities of these clubs.

Boarding

Boarding facility is available for a limited number of boys and girls.

School Bus

The school have buses to pick and drop students.
